Before Roof

An update on the progress.

We have been scrambling, preparing the structure for the roof and we are almost there! The roof better be up in the next couple of weeks... other wise I am screwed.

Bathroom walls are up! I am obviously very excited : )

A note on the bright side of design - I love designing. I love imagining spaces that are alive and filled with beauty. Lately I have been having trouble getting to sleep at night, my mind is rolling on kitchen layouts and sliding doors, wall textures and window frames. It is so exciting to design a space that will be my home for the next many years!

Life is good,

  1. You're the woman in the picture, Celina? Well, if you are, I raise my hat to you! It's kind of rare to see a woman doing those acrobatic moves. :) It has been a week since then. Did you finish installing the end cables and the steel window frame?

  2. So have you been able to steal the window frame by now? ;-)

  3. I’m glad that you are wearing the perfect attire and protective gears while doing certain tasks. I think it’s very responsible of you. Anyway, I, too, think that I am more than excited for your roofs to be delivered and installed. I bet they are all going to look great and that they can magically improve and give life to this house.

    1. That's how it should be, Leif. :) One should always exercise caution when he/she is standing on the roof. Anyway, I assume your new roof has been installed now, Celina. Congratulations! :) May I ask, what type of roof you installed? I hope it's either metal or cedar.

    2. Rodney,

I have now installed the roof, which is essentially hand made SIP panels. But have not yet installed roofing, that will happen in January. It will be a metal roof.

  4. I can tell from the photo that your roof is a gambrel shaped roof. Did you know that a gambrel roof maximizes the head space of a room, and it handles wind loads quite well? Despite that, it is simple to frame and construct.

    1. Yes! That was all well thought out. Every element in the house was carefully designed!
